General Rules
- Have fun, don’t complain.
- HOMERUN RULE: You (meaning your team) can get 3 (out of the park) homeruns per inning — after that, it’s an out. You should be able to hit the ball into the field if you can hit it that far. 🙂
- INFIELD FLY: If you hit a popup in the infield with runners on first and second or bases loaded- you are out if there are less than two outs.
- AUTOMATIC OUT: There will be no automatic out in the case of an injured player. However, if a player is on the line up for a game and is simply not playing they will be an automatic out.
- Each team must be 10-12 people. If you have more people that want to play, they may be needed on another team before we place them on yours. Registration is $25 a player. If your entire team registers at least 2 weeks ahead of time (that’s 7/15 and a strict deadline — by the way).
- If your team registers with 10 players, but you choose to continue playing with less due to injury or other issue, that’s up to you. However, you cannot play with less than 7 players. At that point, you can choose to borrow players from teams or forfeit dependent on the time you have before your next game.
- This is a co-ed tournament, so all teams must be co-ed (you must have at least 2 women in the line-up).
- For safety reasons, children under 14 MUST have parental consent to play.
- Games will be given a time limit (hour and a half), to be determined based on the number of teams.
- 7 inning games — may be shortened to no less than 6 based on the number of teams.
- Mercy Rule will be 15 runs after the 3rd inning and 10 after 5.
- Individual inning run limit is 6.
- Each game will be 1 and 1/2 hours. There will be 10-15 minutes between games for the sake of teams who may have to play two games in a row. That number will stay the same all day. It’s not a range, you will be told in the morning which it is. Please switch fields/exit the field quickly so that the next game can begin.
- End of Game Scenarios (time has expired):
- Home team is ahead and away team is batting. Away team finishes batting.
- Home team is ahead and batting. Game over.
- Home team is losing and away team is batting. Home team gets to bat before game ends.
- Home team is losing and batting. Home team finishes batting.
- Another inning WILL NOT be started
- We will play with a 10 person field (4 outfielders). You must always have at least 1 woman on the field.
- Strike Zone: Any ball that hits the strike pad or home plate and is also within the 6′ to 12′ arc when pitched is a strike. All other pitches are balls.
- Home team determined by pre-game coin toss.
- No stealing, leading, chopping, or bunting. Base runners may not leave the base until the ball has become a batted ball.
- No cleat restrictions; you may wear gym shoes, rubber cleats, metal cleats, etc. Just don’t wear flip flops or heels. And no, you cannot play without shoes. We don’t want you to hurt yourself or anyone else.
- Runners awarded two bases on overthrows that become dead balls.
- All other game scenarios determined by umpires as they arise. Don’t fight with them, don’t fight with each other.
- No courtesy runners. Everyone runs.
